About
Hello there, fellow pug lover – and welcome to our squishy-faced slice of heaven!
I’m Lucy, the proud founder of I Love Pugs Boarding and let me tell you…this all started with one tiny, snorting, tail-twirling bundle of joy named Penny. She was our little black pug princess, just 8 weeks old when we brought her home from Sunderland and oh, what a diva she turned out to be! Provided from her mam – China, she was worth ‘more than all the tea in China’ to us, our precious Penny started our pug journey and we will be forever grateful.

But of course…one pug is never enough?
So, 18 months later, we welcomed Meg – our cheeky little apricot whirlwind, a distinctive looking pug from the off. From day one, Penny and Meg were two snuggly peas in a wrinkly pod and they ruled our home with their snorts, snores and sassy attitudes for over a combined 18 glorious years.
Over those 18 wonderful years, we had the absolute joy of sharing our lives with the most amazing little dogs – our beloved pugs, Penny and Meg. They weren’t just pets…they were our world.
With both of us working from home, they had round-the-clock love, snuggles on demand and two very devoted humans wrapped around their curly little tails. And we’re proud (and a bit emotional) to say – they truly lived astounding lives. Always by our sides, never once not shown unconditional love.
We lost our darling Penny in 2023 at the grand old age of 15 and a half.
She was the heartbeat of our home and her loss was profund – honestly – indescribable, immesurable. No matter how prepared you think you might be when that day comes when you lose your best friend, your pug, you are never ever ready to let them go, in your heart you never will let them go. Their paw prints are left on your heart forever.
But we knew Meg was missing her sister and best friend too, so we gave her all the love, cuddles and adventures we could pack into every day. She became our little explorer! From Whitby to Eyemouth, Edinburgh to Seahouses – the last two years of her life were filled with short and long walks, seaside sniffs, fresh air naps and buggy rides fit for a queen.
But, in February 2025, Meg became unwell.
We feared the worst, but in true pug style, she bounced back from a very bad position – with her ears perked, tail curled and sass fully back intact. We were gifted three more magical months with her, filled with cuddles, snorts and love beyond measure.
In April 2025, just shy of 17 incredible years, our precious Meg peacefully passed away, her little body could no longer fight on, she is now back reunited with Penny – together forever again.
Our home feels different now, but our hearts are full of memories, love and the kind of joy only a pug can bring. And that is what inspired us to create I Love Pugs Boarding – a place where your pug can feel as loved and special as Penny and Meg always did.
But the story doesn’t end there…
In fact, the seeds of this dream were planted way back in 2012 when we launched the I Love Pugs website. Penny and Meg were our mascots and we shipped pug-themed goodies all over the world for 13 years. Their little faces inspired it all. We have over the years looked after some other pugs with Penny and Meg helping, this was a great experience for us too.
And now, in their memory and honour, we’ve taken the next step:
I Love Pugs Boarding – a cosy, loving home-from-home for your precious pugs.
We know what it’s like to want only the best for your fur baby when you’re away. That’s why we’ve opened our home (and our hearts) to pugs who need a loving place to stay while their humans are off on holiday, away for the weekend, or just need a little break.
We’re here, working from home, ready to give your pug the same love, attention and spoiling that Penny and Meg had every single day. So go ahead – travel, relax and rest easy knowing your pug is in the safest (and snuggliest) hands possible.
Snorts, snuggles & love always,
Lucy – I Love Pugs Boarding x
